In the last few months, I have witnessed the following;
-A wife stating that she wishes that her husband would open the door for her more often, to which he replies, "Women fought for equal rights, and you still want us to open the door?"
-An elderly women walking across a parking lot on her way to an entrance of a grocery store. A blizzard is beating against her frail body as she struggles to remain standing against the wind. A group of young men pull up in a truck with music blaring so loudly that it is shaking the concrete. They do not slow down, but they do allow the women to stop in her tracks, and wait for them to drive in front of her and stop at the crosswalk. Two young men in the back seat get out and enter the store. They park their truck 10 feet from where they stopped in the first place and the women is now allowed to enter the store.
-A girl wiping her "Swoob" on her friend's face as a joke as they come out of a very hot club where they have been dancing for the past 5 hours. Her friend has now found out that "swoob" is another word for disgusting boob sweat.
-A women announcing that she is freezing so of course her boyfriend tries to help...he sits on his girlfriend's lap and rips one on her legs. "Now your a bit warmer!!" he screams in a clever some delight and laughs.
-A girlfriend starving herself, because her boyfriend will not love her if she is not a size 4.
-A guy describing a party as a "Butter Face" party. I stand invisible behind them as he explains to his gang of friends that a "Butter Face" party stands for a party where the ladies are all hot, but her face. "Good thing it's dark in here!" one of the gang boys adds with a scoff.
-A girl burping so loud that she self exclaims a 10.0 score. (This one was at a nice restaurant, where she was sitting across the table from who I'm assuming was her Mother.)
What happened to chivalry?
What happened to manners?
What happened to Femininity?
Where did the love go?
Where are the moments that are worth living for?
Times have changed and expectancies have been lowered.
Are we expected to put up with verbal abuse?
Should we waste ourselves because of lust?
Should we feel compatible with someone out of our beliefs?
Is it OK to be treated as a lesser sex?
Should we put up with less than we deserve?
What is going on here people?? I am thoroughly confused on our roles as Men and Women. I wish we could bring some of our traditions back to a more gentle time.

Rieting time 'haiku'
Here is another poem that I'm not too proud of. This meeting was to write a hiaku. It sounds easy, but it is not. The rules of a hiaku;
A hiaku consists of three lines with a 5-7-5 syllable pattern.
Sounds almost too easy, right? bah!! I had a very hard time writing one.
And here it is.
warm sun rays settle
underneath orange and thin lids
seeing through closed eyes

Up on the times
I am blogging a list of things I keep up on instead of focusing on the things that I procrastinate. (which would be a never ending list because I would never finish it...) I got this one from My sister Lera's page. I'm surprised she had a hard time thinking of 5 things that she was good at doing. I can think of loads she is great at. I on the other hand am having a hard time thinking of mine. I'm thinking that some of the things I'm good at are not really something that should be a priority??! But then again, we are our own worst critic.
1-Eating. I'll start this one off with a funny one. I have never gone hungry.
2-My faith. I might have a hard time getting out of bed for the 1 o' clock PM Sunday block, but I've been pretty good about doing it for the last few years. I'm blessed to come to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. "I know who I am. I know God's plan. I'll follow him in faith." wow. My testimony just turned into a primary song. Interesting.
3-I can never run out of cleaning supplies. I don't know what it is about them, but I can't not buy them.
example; whooo. Wood floor finishing spray... $1.50!! Dibs! I'll get 4. (PS. I don't have any wooden floors or furniture in my house.)
example 2; whooooo! Fabreeze!! 50 for $100!!! I need some in every sent! Mmmm. Maybe I should get another cart?...
example 3; WHOOOOO! Blue and Yellow dyed toilet tank bleach bars!! I wonder if they make Green water if you use them together??
4-Clean painted toes. I love painting my toes. It never feels like a chore to remove the blood red polish to put on a fresh strip of white french tip with some black fish-net detail over top.
5-Having clean sheets. I love clean sheets. Having them tight and smooth is a big deal to me. There is nothing more comfortable than having my 800 Egyptian count sheets recently spread out, having the edges shaped into a triangle, and tucked firmly under the mattress. Looking at them with absolutely no wrinkles, makes me feel sleepy heavenly bliss. Nothing is better!! OK, maybe 1600 count would be better, but lets face it. I live on the west side.
Now that you have seen me list 5 things that I keep up on, which lets face it is a feat in itself, you are now tagged to do this on your blog. Let me know when you finish so I can read yours!!

There's white stuff in the air...
"What is THIS!!"
This is exactly what I screamed (noted a little too loud for a call center) when I looked out of my office windows at break time. There were freaky feathery flurries everywhere. Coating the Parking lot, coating the streets, coating my hope for a nice and dry winter.
My co-worker, Jim Bob, just got back from a much deserved 2 week vacation. He car pooled with his 5 kids, yes 5, and yes carpooled, to California to go to Disneyland and other many "carpooling with 5 kids" adventures. Being the cutest "work Dad" ever, he got me a souvenir from his trip. It was a figurine of my dream man Jack Skelington hanging happily debonair on a key chain.
"What is THIS!!" Jack also says in the movie A Nightmare Before Christmas while he is watching the puffy snow globs fall slowly to the ground. Jack was happy to stumble upon the mystical magical Christmas tree in his woodland grove. He was so happy in fact, that he tried to bring it home with him to his dark, artistic, and awesome homely abode.
Today was a moment I will never forget. A thought hit me; Wait a minute...I don't agree with Jack on this...
If it was me stumbling onto the crazy winter weather, I would have creeped and crawled and coward back into my Halloween pumpkin tree hole. I would have hid in my dark tower and rocked the bad images of the perfectly beautiful rain that has now been ruined by a bully named freezing point. I would not have tried to be Santa. (which let's face it...I could pull that off a lot more than Jack ever could.) I would not teach the lurking hump-backed Vampires how to play Christmas music that is on flat musical instruments. I would have just left the snow the heck alone and snuggled with my floating ghost pal Zero. (Or in my case floating Stanley. RIP)
Today is the day that I realized that no man is perfect, including Jack. Tim Burton can always bring a smile to my face. JimBob is not just an awesome name, but an awesome person. That I kind of want a black tower now. Oh, and also today is just another day that I hate snow.

'Rieting time' shoes
I haven't been in the posting mood lately. But I decided that I really needed to start being more consistent in writing. And then, came my problem. What can I write about!? Then I realized I had a few Rieting time poems that I haven't posted. I read through some with grinding teeth and a wrinkled nose. They're awful. I think the only way for me to get better is to practice and get some positive criticism. So without further ado, here is not a good peom. ha.
Our project on this writing class was to write about a pair of shoes. To make them have personality. To describe them physically, how or where they have traveled, their first adventure, how they were used, and/or what they have endured.
born to run
clap.
brand new, never used
tight laces undone
Retied tighter!
generous bow on top
hiding knotted chaos underneath
You are strong.
clap clap clap
striking movements
cheering for us
supporting our weight
warmed souls
stuck out tongues
tasting the air.
tasting victory!

The vision that is Edward Cullen
The movie "Twilight" should really be called: "It's OK to look at screen shots of the Cullen men for Two hours."
I've seen the movie a couple times this weekend. TWERD award inserted here. Despite the cheesy special effects, the cast of some characters, and the lack of any explanation on why Edward loves Bella. I really loved the movie.
When I read the books, I had a very distinct vision of Edward Cullen. I was happy to see that Stephenie Meyer had the same vision as to who would play him in the movie. Henry Cavill. He is perfect! He is also a person on "my list".
There were also many fan picks, that I would never even think of or agree with. Some made dolls. Some drew, painted, and set up computer graphics. Some were really interesting and some really nice to look at.
Then I saw the actors that were cast. I will be the first to say that I was upset. There were many things that I didn't like about all of them. The only one that I was happy about was Jackson Rathbone, who played Jasper Cullen. I was very surprised at how well Rob Pattinson played the part of Edward Cullen. I was very happy with the outcome.
I want to know who everyone would have picked to play Edward Cullen.
I also would like to know if you loved the movie like I did.

Random beloved poem
I had a very deep heart to heart talk with my sister London on the night before we celebrated our mother's birthday. This doesn't happen very often, London is a very happy go lucky lady and will look for the good to focus on and the bad to forgive and forget, I on the other hand am very quick to weep for myself and others. I don't know why we are on the complete ends of the spectrum with our personalities, surprisingly, it helps me love her all the more. She is lovely.
She told me that she didn't understand why I have to go and see my Mom's grave site so often. My reason was quick and simple. I replied that I feel comforted when I go. I cry, I pray, I remember, I breathe, and I am given a time to think. She then asked me if I knew that her spirit wasn't there. I replied on how that is the biggest comfort out there. When I go there, it is confirmed that I know that she is not there. I know that she is working with those that have passed on and is teaching them the Plan of Happiness. I have such a strong testimony of Heavenly Father and his love for all of us. I know that his work is not only in this life. I know that families can be reunited and live together forever. I know that I will see my beautiful Mom again. I miss her with all of my heart and I am so proud that I am my Mother's daughter. I'm happy that I see her in my reflection. I love hearing her in my laugh. I laugh that I have her hands and feet. I'm blessed that I have her forever.
November 12, my Sister's and I went to Cracker Barrel and we celebrated my Mom's birthday. Lera and London are the best sisters anyone could be blessed to have. I love them dearly. I'm so grateful that I have them to lean on.
I read a poem that I really liked. It was written by the very talented Mary E. Frye.
(do not stand at my grave and weep)
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

6 quirks
My friend Lisa, had this blog on her page and I thought this would be interesting to be tagged on. I sadly do have a lot of quirks. Finding 6 really won't be that big of a deal. I'm just hoping that I won't be judged. A person like me, who is very flawed, should not have this many quirks. But that my friends, is one of my flaws. So take this challenge and list 6 of your quirks. And let me know so I can read about them and gain new ones of my own. bah.
1. I am a compulsive hand washer. Clean hands are very important to me. They touch my face, they touch food, and they touch everything else in between. You don't start to cook until you wash your hands. You don't leave the bathroom until you wash your hands. If you apply make up, yes, you wash your hands. It's a courtesy to others and to yourself.
2. In any relationship I feel that the man should open a door. The man should never wait for a women to hold it for them. If a women doesn't like men to open doors for them than they can kindly hold the door for themselves and then walk through.
3. I'm not very superstitious. But when you drive over a railroad you better be touching some metal. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
4. Country music makes me vomit. End of quirk #4.
5. I am a shoe freak!! My quirk is that I have a very hard time throwing them away!! With size 11-12 shoes, if I find good heels, you bet I'm keeping them forever!!
6. I'm a compulsive bone cracker!!! Knuckles, back, neck, hip, wrist, ankle, toes, knees, shoulders... If it bends, I crack it. It really annoys me when people look at me like I'm disgusting when I do it. I especially hate the "you're going to get arthritis" statement. So far, I'm the only one in my family that doesn't have it. Medically, the only harm that cracking does is leave your joins swollen or sore. Which I've never had a problem with. But even if I did, that is something I can handle for a delicious moment of gravity defying tiny massage crackles on my bones.

Combination Skin
I've read that if you want to know what type of skin you have you should wash your face and look in the mirror at the results. Where is your skin tight? Where is your skin smooth? Where is your skin Blotchy? Where is it dry?
I try this test and excitedly await the results........Yikes!!! I am instantly appalled and violently confused on why I don't see is the beautiful-surreal-dewy-skin-of-Goddess, which is what the magazine gives us on what we should see;
Looking in my mirror after I wash my face I see a blotchy messy mix of Greek and English skin. A kaleidoscope of blood rose streaks, ghost white patches, and pink temporary oil hickeys. Is my mirror broken? Is my face Broken?? For goodness sakes, I am not 14 anymore, I'm 24 and should not be having these issues.
Apparently combination skin is the most common skin type. My skin has skin characteristics from both dry and oily skin. It tends toward dryness on the cheeks and makes my skin look dehydrated while being oily on the t-zone. (thus explaining why foundation is so hard for me to find!!)
What I don't understand is; if this is the most common, then why is it not shown in magazines or on makeup models and is just talked about.
Please let me know if you also have tricky skin!! They say that this is common, and yet, I'm feeling pretty alone with my blotchy skin. Do you guys have any tips for a more smooth looking/feeling face?

"suggestion" box
My work office is place of policy. We know the rules. We are given new rules. We are notified of past rules that have changed. We have rules that don't apply any more. Rules and Policies are what we are about.
For our sanity we are given a suggestion box in the lobby. We can fill out the little survey given to us to help us understand why there is a rule in place or to just get a complaint off our chest and feel like we have been heard. Sometimes it feels like our suggestion box really just should be a trash can with a piece of paper labeled "suggestions" on it.
We don't always feel like our complaints really go any where beyond our office, but it's nice knowing that our management still takes the time to hear us out and can give us more info on why we have the policies we do. I work with some really awesome people. They make our office such a great place to work.
One Monday morning I come into work dreading the worst and my email inbox has a reply to a suggestion that was submitted by someone on my team. This is awesome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did;
SUGGESTION: THE WAY IT IS NOW: E Mail.
THE WAY IT COULD BE: We need a system of vacuum tubes that go to each desk in the call center.
HOW WOULD THIS BENEFIT THE COMPANY/EMPLOYEES: We could send messages to each other and it would be more fun than email and we would get to hear that “whooshing” noise!
SUGGESTED ACTIONS TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE: A single cash out pay of approximately $600,000 by our business President to add a little excitement to the day!
COMMENTS: As always we enjoy and welcome your suggestions. Once we escalated this we were advised that it was cost prohibitive especially in these economic times. We were though, given an alternative! Everyone next time you eat soup, please wash your cans and bring one in. We will provide the string to put between these cans!
Thanks, Your Leadership Team!!

One Monday morning I come into work dreading the worst and my email inbox has a reply to a suggestion that was submitted by someone on my team. This is awesome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did;
SUGGESTION: THE WAY IT IS NOW: E Mail.

Mr. Right?!?!
Shea and I were watching one of our favorite movies last night, Practical Magic. She is Sally. I am Gilly. If you've seen the movie, you would know that Gilly "has the worst taste in men" as Sally frankly states as they are rolling the twice corpse'd body of the sexy Bulgarian/vampire/ cowboy, Jimmy, into a freshly dug grave. Whilst I watch the mystical rain soak into his beautiful hair, Shea looks at me and says, "You really do have the worst taste in men".
This morning at work I was speaking to a friend about our roles in relationships. I was saying how normally I drive, I want a great career, and I decide how I normally put everything I have into a relationship. He than asked me what the roles the men in my life are like. After snorting down a laugh about quote on quote "MEN in my life" it hit me that they don't match anything that I want in myself. They don't have money. They don't have Careers. They don't own a car, let alone a dream. They normally, have no interest in relationships. And alas, I still want them. "Huh!!" I said, as the thought of why I like 'these men' hit me right between the eyes. Why have I NEVER noticed this before.
Is it because I don't care? Is it because even though they aren't what I really want, they are still good guys? Is it because I'm so blind I don't really look at who they are but the potential that is there? I must be crazy.
Even though I think almost every guy I meet is attractive in some way or another, I still don't fall for people easily. But when I do, it's hard. I could only think of a few Men that I have given my time and attention to. Here is a list of my "Mr. Rights";
Mr. "Only friends". This one was the guy that I had given so much time, effort, and resources on. As desperately sad as this may sound, I was chasing him. He was my first young crush. I was his friend. We were best friends for a long time. He was a great person. Lively, artistic, funny, charming, attractive, and welcoming to everyone. His family was even more inviting and delicious. I loved them. I still miss his family even now. I felt apart of his family. I felt like I fit in, which was a really hard thing to do when you are a almost bald, Gothic, and a depressed teenager. I loved him as a best friend and I fell for him. I fell hard. He kept picking me up saying "I love you, as a friend". And that was enough. We were friends. Best friends. And then we weren't. I harbored harsh feelings for a long time. It broke my heart that I was bitter at the loss of our friendship and he was happy. I've gotten over this a long time ago and I wish him the best in life.
Mr. Homeless. I met this one in Jr. High. He was the funniest guy I've ever meet!! Even now, he is really hard to top. He wasn't my type, physically. Light brown hair, blue eyes, and extremely clean cut. He was as metro as a guy can get. I was still very attracted to him. He was the nicest guy I've ever meet. He was also homeless. A secret only I and two other people in our school knew about. He got pretty popular. Even in his circumstances he didn't get himself into trouble. He wasn't into anything except drama class. (which I hated.) But we were friends even with our differences. During high school we lost touch. I still miss him.
Mr. dead beat punk. This one was mean. He was abusive. He smelled. I swear he never showered. He didn't have a job. He had me pierce his face with a saftey pin. (why oh why would I do that!!?) He liked my friend. Correction, he liked my friends. He was in trouble with the law all of the time. He literally peed on my house because he was drunk. Did I see that this might be a guy not to like?? No. I saw the punk legend. I saw what he could have been.
Mr. Married. I met this one my first semester of college. He was sweet, he was smart, he was funny, and he was pysically everything that I go for. Dark red brown hair. Brown Eyes. Wide smile with straight teeth. I wore heels and he was still taller than me. He kept his arm around me as he walked me to my next class. He took me out to lunch frequently. He even wore a brown leather jacket. We liked the same music, movies and books. 30 minutes before our group project for our final assignment in Business devolpment class, he was rubbing my hand while we were going over our parts in the presentation. A beautiful skinny blonde came strolling in the class room. I didn't notice her until he jumped back from me. The hand touching stopped. Lots of looks between me and him happened as she sat in his lap and kissed his hansome face. She was wearing a wedding ring. He did not. Now I know why. We had a few classes to go for the semester. I started going to the lectures on the opposite days. He called and emailed a few times but I wouldn't answer. I still wonder if I should have dragged his cheating self to light when his wife was sitting there between us.
Now I don't have a lot of relationship experience, but I really feel that even the wrong ones can teach you many things about your future right one(s). The important thing is that we learn. I am using this epiphany as a stepping stone. The memories of guys in my past have made me realize what I want and what I don't. And right now, I feel like I have pretty good taste in men.

Memories of strawberries
You should try this on your blog page too. What you do is take a random word and make a list of memories or things that you think of when you hear the word. Today my word choice is strawberries.
Strawberry fields forever. I love the Beatles. In fact my favorite song ever is by this band. And as of lately I've had one of there songs stuck in my head morning, noon and night. I love them. I love the John. I begin my tribute to strawberries to a great song of theirs; Strawberry fields forever, "Always no sometimes think it's me, but you know I know when it's a dream."
Chocolate covered strawberries. I am not a dancer. I am not graceful. I'm a mess. My dance partner for senior ball was even worse. Instead of picking the guy that asked me to go with, who did dance (and wore the same tux as my date lol), I choose my friend. Enough said, we didn't dance. We did however come back to my house with our group of friends and eat tons of chocolate covered strawberries. It might have been a "night of magic and romance" but no. This was my group of friends. And we like to party. We had a food fight instead. PS/ Chocolate covered strawberries stain everything.
Strawberry Shortcake. I was born in 1984. This great year landed me in the coolest TV show world ever. Strawberry Shortcake, Smurfs, Jem, Pee Wee's Play House, Gumbi, Care Bears, and Transformers. These childhood "babysitters" explain a lot about me.
Sexy Strawberries. I am an avid reader. I love books. But I'm very careful about what I read. I am a clean girl. I however didn't know about the overly sexy scene that Sophie Kinswella was going to throw in one of her stories as a curve ball of "hot" that interestingly contained strawberries. (((cyber blush)))
Strawberry Blond. I naturally have blond hair. I dye it darker because I believe that brunettes have more fun. My hair has been a box of crayola crayons. Constantly changing through Jr. High, High School, and then onto Cosmetology College. Many of my teachers in high school made me laugh; On the first day of school, I was the strawberry blond in the back row. If I was called to the office, I was the strawberry blond one. If I was to show a new student around, I was the strawberry blond one in the corner. All of this happened when I had my platinum blond, raven dyed, or purple chunky colored hair.
I don't get it.
Strawberry pop-tarts. I have a major addiction to these Delicious treats. I remember I used to buy many boxes at a time. They were with me through "bear lake cabin" visits, College budgets, and forget to bring lunch to work days. So here is a standing ovation to my sugar-filled-drug-addictive-pockets-of-bliss.

Random beloved poem
October by Robert Frost
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes' sake, if they were all,
Whose elaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost--
For the grapes' sake along the wall.
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes' sake, if they were all,
Whose elaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost--
For the grapes' sake along the wall.

Demon Moo
This blog is dedicated to one of the coolest girls you will ever meet. Her name is DM. Obviously not because of the size, but because of dragon tails. Don't ask, I've never seen it. But one of our ex-co-workers, Krispy Tarter, gave her this nickname; Mandy Moo Moo. It then transferred into Moo Moo, than to Demon Moo, and lastly DM. DM and I were cubicle neighbors and the best-est of work friends. (I still have the tattoo of her face on my shoulder. lol)
Work has been doing some changes lately. Sigh. We all have been moved. Well not me, but everyone around me. My work family has been taken from me. No more creepy uncle Chad, no more sweet aunt Selina, no more say it how it is cousin Vangana, and no more sista from anotha mista DM.
Now we can no longer throw notes (that look like crumpled trash to keep it on the down low.), play hangman, stand up and give each other the "I'm-going-to-go-Rambo-on-this-place-but-I'll-give-you-a-5-minute-notice-so-you-can-leave-before-the-storm" look, or throw a random slinky attack over the top of the wall.
So here is a memoir to the Demons. Now we can't just stand up and talk we have to go to the next row. whimper.

'Rieting time' color adj.
This is a copy of the poem that I wrote for my first meeting with my bud Rachel. I've been putting this off because it is a little embarrassing for me to have this one out in the open. I was laughing so hard I started to cry when I was trying to read it out loud!!!
My mini lesson was on adjectives for color. What it would taste like, sound like, look like, feel like, makes me....
We picked a color for ourselves and then we picked a color for each other that we thought would most represent them. We would take time to write using both. Rachel said I would represent Orange because it is lively and spunky. I said she would be Lavender because she is feminine and sweet. For our writing Rachel picked White and I picked Brown. We began writing adjectives and from that list we would create a poem of our own with out actually saying the color.
(Just as an example I wrote that brown tasted bitter sweet. Brown sounds like wooden chimes in a breeze. Brown looks like warmed skin. Brown feels like antiqued leather. Brown makes me relaxed. (PS. Just remember that this was the first poem that I've written in a very long time. It is raw and is still very rough.)) enjoy.
The game.
We lay across from each other, my heart beats unsteadily onto the earthy floor.
your steady fingers place your destined figure next to mine. Naturally, wanting.
Instinctively my warm hand covers my smooth vulnerable piece.
Your soft eyes smile while you play the part of the Knight. Strong, determined.
Our motions have my queen captured and leaves us only one choice, a walk down the isle.
Tanned skin crinkles on your cheeks like antiqued leather. Warm, inviting.
We are both waiting for me to make my move.
My pale body slides down the row and I am taken. Check, mate.

The Jane Austen Book Club
I just finished the movie 'The Jane Austen Book Club' I absolutely loved it.
In the movie, the leading ladies and one man, chose a Jane Austen book to host for a month of their book club. They discuss the characters, the plots, the flaws, and more importantly the love. In the movie each host is destined to live out their chosen books' plot.
I have always related to one of Jane Austen's characters in a very real and personal way. I have grown to love this flawed women. I believe that I have many talents, short comings, and passions in common with this women. I like to think, that in a way, I resemble this woman.
I was just wondering what character of Jane Austen's you feel that you relate to. Leave me a comment and let me know. I also would love to have a Jane Austen book club. Let me know if you would be interested and if you know someone would would want to get in on this!!

Memory Maker
I've seen this on the blogs of a few other people and thought it was kind of fun. Reading the comments is the exceptionally entertaining bit. Here's what you do:
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

have you ever??
Have you ever came back late from a movie that had a scene that kind of freaked you out, and when you got out of your car the sky is pitch black and you wanted, more than anything, to get inside quickly? Then you forget that you have something in the trunk to take inside. So you turn around quickly and clumsily scrape your car trying to get your key in the lock. You open the trunk and the eerie bloody orange light from inside cascades across the lawn and creates shadows you didn't notice before. You see something large and eye level twitching in your peripheral vision and you rip out a blood curdling scream that probably wakes up the whole neighborhood. Then embarrassingly you realize it was your bangs moving with the breeze that frightened you?? And in the moment of pure terror you slammed the trunk halfway on your purse so you can't flee the scene.
Yeah-me neither.....
Yeah-me neither.....

'Rieting time' found poem
So my bud Rachel and I have decided to start a writing club. We both used to write all the time through school but after graduation we have fallen out of the habit. I've been writing and dabbing into some novel ideas that I've had over the years, but I have completely lost touch with my poetry side. My talent is not as fluent as it used to be. Every other Tuesday Rachel and I are trying to get together to just take some time to write. She cleverly named it 'Rieting time'. This last Tuesday we got together with our friend Shea and created a found poem. Rachel brought magazines and had us cut out works or pictures of things that described us or that we related to. Here is my poem;
in plain sight
I am clean and chaotic
independently needful
wrinkled yet regal
determinedly nostalgic
I am a girl
skin, is smooth milky white
habits show in my style
I haven't trusted in a while
pending a trustworthy Mr. Right
I am a feminist
cool as a cucumber
smokey eyes sparkle giddy
sweet perfume scents me pretty
my thoughts not left asunder
I am a lady
future, a paved and flowered trail
completely spiritually attached
my life is wisely attacked
sprinkled in feminine details
I am a women

My bedroom...
My room is full of the colors brown, teal, and tan/khaki. The furniture is all a deep brown wood, the carpet teal, and the walls are painted two-tone tan and chocolate brown.
Starting clockwise from the door.
A wooden vanity that my oldest sister handed down to me. It is jam packed with jewelry, so jammed packed that I can rarely keep the doors on it shut. Above the vanity is a framed "proclamation to the world" bordered with pictures of temples by some very loved friends for my Christmas present.
My double doored closet. Filled with clothes on hangers and "dedicates" in little canvas totes. One empty wicker basket kept for dirty laundry until Wednesday nights when I wash them all. Totes full of shoes, cosmetology stuff, gifts, and re-gifts. Notepads and files of poetry and boxes of purses waiting to be lined up with my next outfit. Photo albums neatly arranged on both sides of a too large glass jar full of colorful scarves sitting dustily on the lower shelf. Suitcases, full of memorabilia and smaller case full of beads and jewelery tools for my next creations, on the top shelf. Towels folded, rolled and tucked on top for easy convenience, all sorted by size. Some where is half of a dead spider that I killed last week and was too freaked out to look for the remains. I know that it is half-corpsing around somewhere making a home and mutant babies.
My black DVD bookcase. The only black furniture left over from my last bedroom decorating scheme. Only 3 rows separating the towering DVD stacks. Shelves have been removed and stacked behind the bookcase to make room for even more movies. Atop is my perfume box. Made by my sister Lera and filled with all sizes and colors of delicious bottles. Two picture frames; One of my best friend Shannon and a companion that she had in the MTC, and a picture of the late President Hinkley smiling in a gentleman's hat. A mold of my parents tender clasped hands, forever touching and holding each other and probably the most looked at item in my room.
Bare space of wall with a framed picture of my current Roomies, London and her lovely family. Under this is a wooden vase full of spongy willows. A returning gift from my best friends mission.
My small hand-me-down book case that used to hold my dad's shoes. Scuff marks are now covered by often read books. Starting in my Twilight collections (I own two of each, so I can lend one and read the other.), in the middle my Barnes and Noble classics, and ending in my Harry Potter series. Above the case is my first window. The ledge under my window has a picture of me and some old roommates making stupid faces, my two oldest nephews, a Scensty candle warmer, and my mother's jewelry box which is full of beautiful trinkets that were hers and my Granny's.
My dresser, full of electronics, paper, yarn, cleaning supplies, and a ton of CD's. Absolutely no clothes anywhere in these hand painted drawers. Atop is a 32 inch TV that likes to turn off and make freaky noises on it's own accord. Atop the TV is a wooden fish that "swam" here from Thailand. Beside the monster telly is a DVD/VCR combo. Atop with ceramic leaves and candles. on the wall behind the candles is a picture of my family that was taken about 2 1/2 years ago. All of us wearing neutral colors and happy smiles.
The next window and decorated ledge stand on the other side of the dresser. Sitting happily is a pitcher of Orange African Daisies (that I won at a bunco party) and decorative spheres made out of seashells at the base. (which were a thank you gift from Lera.) Near the two textures spheres is a small hand painted Thai dish from Shannon for Christmas. On the other side is a very large sweating glass of ice water with a blue and white striped straw.
Partially under this window ledge is the foot of my bed, where I am currently sitting on a satin teal and brown florished bed comforter. This queen sized bed hits the other wall and connects the room. 600 thread count embroidered egyption sheets lay smoothly over the lip of the comforter. Four pillows, one for my head and three to take up the entire right side when I sleep, are now piled neatly at the top of the bed. Under the bed are totes and boxes of more books, gift wrap, and games.
A wooden nightstand with one drawer and one shelf sits next to my bed. The shelf holds my scriptures and a note pad for random sleepy thoughts about writing. The drawer is full of ear plugs, an empty journal, and old remotes. On top is a small lamp, a candle in a flower pot, and a battery operated alarm clock that is set for 5:53 AM because I hate waking up to even numbers.
On the bare wall after the night stand is a mirror framed in Celtic knotting. Tucked in the crease between the frame and the glass is a sticker, never peeled, that I got from a random geeky girl at a book signing stating "I <3 hot guys with super powers and fangs!!" I don't know why it is still there but it just made me laugh.
Now you are back at the door that you started on, but on this side you can see a permanent marker scribble that was given to me from my "artistic" nephew Trevor.

Memories of Mint
I stole this idea off of another blogger's website. What you do is take a random word and make a list of memories or things that you think of when you hear the word. Today my word choice is Mint.
Mint chocolate chip chocolate ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. Today was our family's celebration of Lera's birthday and Father's day. We had way too many cakes, all to do with a misunderstanding. London brought an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and made cupcakes to make sure that we had enough cake for all of our guests. Betty, brought Father's Day cupcakes. And I brought a Mint chocolate chip cake from Baskin Robbins, thinking that there wouldn't be enough for everyone. Needless to say we had way too much cake.
Sleepy time herbal tea. This tea was a favorite to my Mother and my sister's. This is the perfect tea to use to relax or just to have a moment. I still crave this tea when I have restless nights or when the rain is pouring out side.
Buttermints. I have been in 3 wedding lines by the time I was 21 years old. Those are just the lines, not actual weddings of close friends or family. Specializing in wedding updo's does not help me in not attending weddings. Buttermints are a disgusting demon that lurk around weddings waiting to spring their ominous plague on the singletons. They are cursed. Once you have had the cheap greasy melting taste of them linger in your mouth in 3 wedding lines you are cursed too.
ABBA mint shampoo. My first roommate went to Cosmetology College with me and we decided we liked hanging out so much, that we would become roomies. Sadly time moves on and life goes on. I've had a few roomies since her but I will always remember her love and support to me over the years. She is a wonderful friend, and when she washes your hair, gives the best scalp massage on the planet.
Andes Mints. These were a popular gift for my Mother growing up. With not having a job and these being .99 cent boxes of bliss these were the perfect presents for Mother's day, birthday's, and Christmas. I remember when I was 12 I walked to our neighborhood Shopko, and bought a Delicious box for myself. I opened it up and found that I won a sweepstakes vacations trip for 4 to the Andes. I read that you had to be 18 or older to redeem the prize. Stupid and juvenile I threw the box in Shopko's outside dumpster on the way home. I told my Mom about what happened and she had me looking in the dumpster during the next hour to no avail of finding my prize. Ever since that day, Andes do not taste as good as they used to...
Cinna-mint toothpaste. I love cinnamon flavored candy. When the geniuses at crest and Aquafresh came out with cinna-mint, orange-mint, and kissme-mint toothpaste, I was beyond joy. They put a beautiful spin on a classic. I thank them at least twice a day for their fresh and clean ideas.
Peppermint ice cream from Leatherbys. This was my Mother's favorite ice cream flavor. She loved dipping this in Leatherbys hot fudge and would ask/tell us to not forget to pick her up a pint whenever we would go out to that restaurant.
Mint chocolate chip ice cream. My favorite character, from the book The Host, Ian O'Shea's favorite snack.
Mint Chapstick. I am a chapstick-aholic. My favorite thing to do with my chapstick, is peel off the label so you have a smooth white tube, stating "I am not an ordinary chapstick, I am Rie's chapstick". I remember sneaking in my Dads coin bowl and digging for the moist and tasty chapstick to apply generously to my perfectly smooth lips. I also remember asking my Mother to look into her brown overly large strapped "Mary Poppin's" purse during sacrament and having her pull out a smaller white with old lady flowers sowing purse. I would listen to the gentle snagging snaps the zipper would make as I would wait for the chapstick to be passed down the row of sisters to get to me.

They're going to the meadow!!!!
I was having a bad day at work and I gave my co-worker the I'm going to smash this computer with my face look. She wisely and quickly stood up, holding our favorite book and cooed, "They are going to meadow." Right then, I was aware that those 5 words were making my check bones burn. I was smiling. Big. If you are a Twilight fan, you are probably smiling right now too. If you are not a fan, here is an excerpt of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, chapter 13, Confessions;
He raised his free hand and placed it gently on the side of my neck. I sat very still, the chill of his touch a natural warning- a warning telling me to be terrified. But there was no feeling of fear in me. There were, however, other feelings...
"You see," he said. "Perfectly fine."
My blood was racing, and I wished I could slow it, sensing that this must make everything so much more difficult- the thudding of my pulse in my veins. Surely he could hear it.
"The blush on your cheeks is lovely," he murmured. He gently freed his other hand. My hands feel into my lap. Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands.
"Be very still," he whispered, as if I wasn't already frozen.
Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat. I was quite unable to move, even if I'd wanted to. I listed to the sound of his even breathing, watching the sun and the wind play in this bronze hair, more human than any other part of him.
With deliberate slowness, his hands slid down the sides of my neck. I shivered, and I heard him catch his breath. But his hands didn't pause as they softly moved to my shoulders, and then stopped.
His face drifted to the side, his nose skimming across my collarbone. He came to rest with the side of his face pressed tenderly against my chest.
Listening to my heart.
Are you smiling?

2 ear infections & Strep throat
I have never had strep throat in my life. I'm what the annoyed and envious call a "carrier monkey". When I went to the doctor's office yesterday, for not being able to breathe rightly through the night, I was unsurprised that the nasty gag you with a Q-tip, Strep test came back negative. My doctor however disagreed with my reaction and advised me that I still might have Strep.
Doc: Well the test came back negative.
Me: So I don't have Strep?
Doc: The test states that you don't, but that doesn't mean that you don't have Strep.
Me: *blink
Doc: If the test comes back positive than you definitely have Strep throat. But if it comes back negative, you could still have it.
Me: *blink, blink
Doc: I'm going to prescribe you something to help you fight this off.
Me: Fight off the Strep?
Doc: Yes, it will help with that too.
Me: *blink, stare at him confused.
Doc: You also have ear infections.
Me: In addition to the Strep?
Doc: Well it might be Strep, but we don't know.
Me: *Blink.
Doc: Well the test came back negative.

"you suck at blogging"
I was at my sister Lera's house last night for Sunday dinner. We were just sitting on the couch in her living room with books in our laps and she looked up at me and said, "you suck at blogging". I made a lame excuse of not having time, she said that she was busy also, but still made the time. So on Memorial day sitting in my bed I was thinking of what I needed to do this week, and then the thought hit me. I can blog about some of the things that I normally do in a week, which helps me to derive attention from my blog.
WORK- I work for a freight systems company at a call center in Best Valley. Luckily I am not on the phones. I write emails. Many Emails. At the end of the first three hours of my day I have sent x-amount of emails about pickups and missed pickups. I have also populated some very "fun" spreadsheets to send to one of my customers by their due time. After the first three hours I want a snack and a nap. The rest of my day is repetitious of the above. Emails and spreadsheets, and wanting snacks and naps. My day at work is also very busy because of Hangman, Mash, letters that look like trash so we don't get caught, pranks, personal jokes, memories of better times and hopes that haven't been shot down, and of course talk of what we all want to be when we grow up.
CHURCH/CHURCH CALLINGS- I am an active LDS member. Sometimes it's hard to be one. But it's worth it!! I recommend it to anyone and I'm willing to pick you up if you want to car pool.
TV/MOVIES/MUSIC/SHOPPING/GAMES- All of these are great things to do by yourself or with others. I normally hang out with some of my friends during these so I can show that I am not "avoiding them" and that I am not "anti-social".
BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS- I absolutely love to read!! To be perfectly honest I am borderline catatonic when I am reading a good book. The Host is a new found favorite, it's the best. Read it, and when your done you can tell me that I was right. :)
FOOD- I'll scare you if I tell you how many times I eat out a week. This takes a lot of time and money, but I'm willing to put forth the effort. Bah.
FAMILY- I love my family. My sisters are the most important things in my life. Even when my life isn't busy, they make sure that I have something to do. London-She is always having some kind of party going on. She will normally have half the neighborhood over to get ready for it, and the whole neighborhood to celebrate it. Lera- She always makes sure that I have a place to go. I can talk to her about anything. She understands me and that is a hard thing to grasp. Shea (sista from another mista')- She is my best friend. She always knows what I need and supports me in everything. I might not have a husband or kids, but I definitely have the the best Bro-in-laws and the most perfect Nephews. Monte (Lon's hubby)- He is one smart man. He is the embodiment of a bread winner. I hope that I can have a dependable husband like him someday. Braedon (1st of Lon's boys)- Boy genius. Always has the laptop in one hand and a chocolate milk in the other. He's getting baptized next Saturday and is very excited. Trevor- The cutest kid I've ever seen. He seriously is full of character surprises. He pronounces my name as why. I hope that never changes. Davis(Lon's youngest)- Full of screams and smiles. He is adorable. He absolutely loves food, and even though he only has one tooth, he likes to chew. Greg (Lera's hubby)- He has the coolest hobbies ever. He's a nerd like me. He is really talented with music and Lego's. I can always expect to have a reason to laugh when I'm with him. Palmer (Lera's baby)- He is the sweetest baby I've ever meet. He makes me happy. His cry is pathetic, he has a zoolander face that he pulls, his Edward Scissor hand fingers are so cute, and his eyes are brilliant.
